Ahhh the Henry Holland, King of London Street Style and the Agyness Deyn, Darling of the London fashion scene – it’s soooooo a match made in heaven. In fact, it almost seems to0 perfect and too good to be true. It’s like Andy Warhol and Edie Sedwick, but without the art and the Factory and the drugs and the creepy unhealthy relationships. But whatever it’s totally the same thing.
I had my mixed feelings about Aggy at first… but I have to admit those feelings have changed in the past few years. She especially gets props for admitting her real age now that she’s successful. First, girl’s got balls to lie about it for the sake of her career. Second, girl’s got even bigger balls for being all, “Hey, you’re all obsessed with youth so I fooled you into thinking I was young.” So there.
Aggy’s been quite the busy bee lately, between signing on to collaborate with Dr. Martin’s, dancing for Rebecca Minkoff and gracing the glossies. It’s most definitely not surprising that she was spotted at the Jameson Empire Awards in a flirty frock from House of Holland’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection, particularly because Ms. Deyn walked in the House of Holland spring show at London Fashion Week.
This dress is one of those items that I would never have looked at on the hanger, but when I see it on I think it’s adorable. I’m not quite sure if the detail is bird-inspired or rogue trapezoids, but I don’t care because I like it. In fact, after seeing it on I can suddenly see myself wearing House of Holland… whereas up until now it was only something I could appreciate on the runway from afar. Needless to say, the combo color could have easily gone horribly wrong a la Valentine’s Day, but I feel like the texture totally makes it work.
