Beach Wave Hair ~ The Quick and Easy Method

The best beach wave hairstyle looks carefree, relaxed and most importantly: natural. It is not a style to be forced or overstyled. Get this: you could create this relaxed hairstyle without any product or heating tool at all, really.

Quick and easy steps to get the best beach wave hairstyle with the least effort.

Maximize the drying process. A good beach wave hairstyle is created in the drying process. After shampooing, spray on your favorite styling mist then let your hair dry naturally as much as possible beforehand. Use your fingers to loosely detangle.

Other beachy hairstyle tricks include: leave a loose bun in your hair when it’s almost dry. This naturally creates lift, body and wave. Or put your in a wrapped towel periodically as you let your hair dry. This also provides lift and shape.

If you want a more serious curl, sleep with a loose bun overnight (remember: your hair should be barely damp, not soaking wet).

Okay, now that your hair is dry and has some natural waves, it’s time to accentuate and define those waves. Light styling wax or pomade separates natural waves while providing a light sheen.

Seal in the look, by tossing your head upside down and gently blowdrying the underside of your hair, again: using your fingers as a comb. This gives you the “wind” element of a beach waves hairstyle.

For a more styled beachy wave hair look:

A flat iron is your friend. Most don’t know that a flat iron can create a beach wave. Spray on heat protectant spray beforehand then use your flat iron this way:

Clamp your hair and flip it upwards instead of clamping it and pulling it straight down. Slide it down slowly to lock in the curls.

Or go old school with a curling iron. Thinner curling irons work best for this. Clamp down on small sections then twist the curls away from your face in a curly-cue fashion. (Think soft, loosely twisted curls.)

Finish with a texturizing spray. The secret ingredient to the best beachy hairdo? A sea salt spray or a texturizing spray to give you that ocean-sprayed look.

So there you go. Some quick and easy steps to give you a free-stylin’ beachy wave style. You can also get your beach wave style done professionally by one of our stylists in our Montreal salon. It’s one of our favorite looks. Here are some recent examples.
