It’s an unexpected location for a fine restaurant, but since California has its share of car lovers, it seems to make sense that Cohn Restaurant Group, which operates more than 15 restaurants in Southern California, opened its latest venue atop a 330,000-square-foot Lexus dealership in San Diego. The Vintana is on the penthouse floor of the Centre at Lexus Escondido and is accessible by a glass elevator; it seats 200 patrons and has 17-foot-tall windows throughout the dining room that overlook a waterfall and a pool. San Diego’s notable chef Deborah Scott serves gourmet fare such as black pepper bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with sun-dried nectarines and peaches, and blackberry-glazed bison spareribs with a bacon-pecan waffle, local greens, and blackberry-bourbon gastrique.
In addition to the dining room, a 20,000-square-foot terrace features fire pits and views of the California hills and is available for private events and concerts. Just off the terrace is V2L2, or the Vintana Vodka Lounge and Lanai—a 10,000-square-foot outdoor lanai with cabanas available for private reservations and a separate bar that serves more than 125 varieties of vodka, in addition to an extensive list of wines and cocktails. Downstairs, there is a full-service dealership with the latest Lexus models, an event and meeting space, a golf simulator, and more. (619.236.1299, www.dinecrg.com)
