Long known for vintage movements and colorful traditional dials, the relatively modern (founded in 1946) firm of Dubey & Schaldenbrand is currently reviving itself with an even more modern set of design values. Its latest Grand Shar DBT Ti Tourbillon ($127,500) is housed in grade 5 titanium specially treated by an electroplasma oxidation process to produce its distinctive darker hue. Accents are mirror polished or blued, including the hands and screws—a commitment to the aesthetics of handcraftsmanship that pervades other models in the new collection.
