Exciting news, fashion lovers! (This could also be classified as inspiring news for fashion newcomers as well.) Contemporary women’s Ready to Wear brand Vena Cava announced a partnership with LF USA on April 9th.
For those of you who are not familiar with the brand, Vena Cava is known for an innovate and eclectic use of prints, making it a favorite among young starlets like Natalie Portman, Blake Lively and Emma Watson. And what does it mean when Black Swan, Serena Van der Voodsen and Hermoine Granger wear your clothes? It’s means you’re certifiably cool and fabulous. And yes, I realize that Emma Watson is moving on from Harry Potter… I just don’t really care.
You may be saying, “Hey, I don’t speak fashion. What does this actually mean?” I’ll explain: LF USA is a subsidiary of Hong Kong-headquartered Li & Fung Limited, which is a the multinational consumer goods export and logistics group. Huh? Let me translate that into words you understand: they’re the people who help Rachel Zoe (among many others) fund and produce her clothing line. So while Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, the ladies behind Vena Cava, retain creative vision, they get big fancy pants budgets to make and export their clothes. It’s basically like hitting the fashion jack pot, but also not surprising considering Vena Cava’s impressive resume includes back-to-back nominations for the prestigious Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund Award in both 2007 and 2008.
But back to the clothes… I’ve previously stated that I am not big on prints, which I am not, but I could actually see myself wearing that yellow and green printed blouse with several different outfits. I also like the polka dot top, but hello that’s no surprise because it’s black and we also know I have a serious addiction to wearing black. Alas, some things never change, my kittens.
