What with all those fussy stays and complicated seams—not to mention the fact that they’ve historically required a strong-armed servant and a fainting couch, to boot—décolleté-enhancing corsets have been an after-dark affair. But for Resort, designers are showing the shapers in a comparatively casual context—seems that sometimes our days require more than just a caffeine boost. Joseph Altuzarra and Burberry Prorsum’s Christopher Bailey layered lingerie-inspired, strapless bustiers over a relaxed button-up and T-shirt, respectively, while Australian up-and-comer Dion Lee nixed the wiring but stuck with the molded bust detail on a sheer blouse. Christine Centenera was spotted wearing it during Sydney fashion week last month.
