Keep Coola on Hot Summer Days – Sun Protection with a Difference

As a fair-skinned person, one of the hardest skincare products to “get right” is sunscreen. Typical over-the-counter sun protection is often loaded with chemicals (one actually burned my face). On the other hand, all-natural products can leave a waxy, white haze on my skin that makes me look like a sickly ghost and is near impossible to remove.
Then Coola entered the picture. And quickly stole the show. Finally, a gentle yet effective sunscreen that doesn’t make me look like a mime on a Montreal street corner. The only difficult part: which Coola product to use (since seriously, I like them all).

Why Coola Sunscreen Products are Better

There is a long list of dangerous ingredients found in sun protection products. But leading the pack: oxybenzone, a known endocrine disruptor that may increase the risk of breast cancer and endometriosis (Kariagina 2020, Peinado 2020, Rooney 2020, Santamaria 2020).

According to Coola’s website:

Making healthy suncare people love to wear has been, since its inception, COOLA’s fundamental mission. When we launched in 2007, we were among the first – if not the very first – US suncare company to formulate without oxybenzone in our sunscreens. We were the first company to incorporate 70%+ organic ingredients into classic sunscreens and we pioneered the use of plant protection, naturally boosting the feel and performance of our formulas. Additionally, our mineral sunscreen collection has always been a cornerstone of our brand. Over the past ten years, we are proud to have introduced chemical-active free, wearable mineral sunscreen formulas to a new generation.

We’re exposed to the dangers of the sun all of the time, not just when we’re on a beach. From driving in our cars (an often overlooked source of sun damage) to short doses of overly strong midday sun (think walking in a parking lot into a store), Coola recognizes that different types of sun protection are needed for different situations.

Take your lips, for instance: they need their own type of protection. Or skin aftercare, if you did get a little too much sun. Or babies who need a special kind of sun protection that’s both safe and effective.
