Paco Rabanne Promotes Julien Dossena to Creative Director

French designer Julien Dossena has been newly appointed to creative director of Paco Rabanne. The 30-year-old is a graduate of La Cambre in Brussels and had been working as senior designer at Balenciaga since 2008. Joining Paco Rabanne in early 2013, Dossena served under his predecessor Lydia Maurer, assisting in designing this years ready-to-wear collection. Promoted to creative director within months of starting with the company, he is now the third designer in three years to be named as such. While the previous directors only lasted, at most, a few seasons, Paco Rabanne is excited about Dossena. We are delighted to welcome Julien Dossena. His radical and innovative interpretation of the Paco Rabanne style will allow us to firmly establish our collections in the world of the most avant-garde and desirable brands on the market, representatives of the fashion house reported.
With iconic space age looks and a blending of chain metals, plastics and futuristic shapes, the fashion house has made a comeback. After designer Paco Rabanne left in 2006 to pursue other interests, the design house had not made a women's ready-to-wear line until former creative director, Manish Arora, revived it in 2011. Now with Dossenas help, the brand may see a full recovery back into the international fashion scene. Having won the 1.2.3 prize at the International Festival of Fashion and Photography in Hyres in 2006, he may be the permanent creative director the brand was looking for. His first collection will premiere September 26th during Paris Fashion Week, so we wont have to wait long to find out.
