Launched in mid-April, the latest to splash from Feadship is the 258-foot (78.5-meter) custom motor yacht Hampshire II. The experienced owner of Hampshire II made sure there was plenty of room for fun, from the tip of its glass-elevator-accessible crow’s nest down to its expandable teak beach club. For instance, attached to the mast on which the crow’s nest sits is a zipline wire for a fast and furious slide from air to water. For those who can’t leave their sports at home, Hampshire II’s teak helipad can be netted off and used for basketball, tennis, baseball, badminton, and soccer. If playing in the water is more appealing, guests can take advantage of the hydraulic swim ladder that descends from the stern, or just hang out on the large beach club, which is incorporated into the deck above by way of a skylight. Comfortable seating completes the space. Fold-down terraces on either side of the yacht make for an inviting owner’s seating area and wing stations next to the pilothouse.
London-based design firm Redman Whiteley Dixon created the contemporary exterior look and the classic interior as well. On Hampshire II, the owner chose to replace the typical bridge-deck lounge with a traditional-looking English-style bar.
Hampshire II accommodates 14 guests in six staterooms, as well as 21 crew and two staff in 14 crew cabins. Built in steel and aluminum, the sturdy superyacht gains propulsion via two MTU 16V 4000 M53R engines that give the yacht a 16-knot top speed and a range of 5,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. Naiad Marine zero-speed stabilizers keep guests comfortable—and the decks steady for the next round of sports. (www.feadship.nl)
