My first job in high school was working the front desk at a spa. Back then, I got collagen blankets for fun. Now, I get them out of necessity, to prevent sagging and aging skin. I began researching collagen?™s miracle like qualities and came to the realization that it?™s exactly what my nearly thirty year old skin needs, much more today, than it did at 16. As women age, the collagen and elasticity in our skin slowly diminishes. I felt a facial was in order for a little healthy restoration and pampering.
However, all facials are not created equal. Some can leave you blistered, bruised and in worse condition than you started in. It?™s important to be very particular about who tends to your skin. Just as you would be cautious about purchasing random products from your local apothecary, it?™s vital to only allow aestheticians with proper industry practices and training to manage your product application. Before starting a new regimen for the skin, it?™s best to visit a professional that knows their stuff.
If you?™re a first-time spa-goer, be sure to check out the spa?™s website to make sure it is up to date, review the services offered and pricing to make sure it is what you are looking for. Read the spa?™s policies for cancellations, directions, etc. You can also call the spa and ask for recommendations and possibly go for a tour prior to your appointment. While there, speak to a technician, ask any questions that you feel would make your spa visit more memorable.
I called on Bliss Atlanta Downtown to show me how the best in the biz do their hygienic facial skin rituals. They have several facials that target anti-aging, breakouts, maturing skin, brightening and overall skin health and beauty. The Blissage 75 and the Triple Oxygen facial are their two most requested services.
The Bliss Spa in Downtown Atlanta is a spotlessly clean facility flooded with natural light on the 16th floor of 45 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. They offer complimentary valet parking (unheard of in downtown Atlanta) and a complimentary glass of bubbly. Guests may also use the pool as well if they want to make a day of it.
As I stepped into the spa, I was greeted by one of their homegrown aestheticians, Michelle. As she intro?™d me into the marvelous assortment of Bliss and Affiliate products, she began to describe my skin type, ?œdry and parched with clogged areas.” After perusing the infinite world of lavish, lush facial treatments, I decided to put the Bliss Oxygen Facial to the test.
The hour+ long facial was well encompassed with a glycolic masque, vitamin C polish, and extractions (yuck) and sprayed on micellized vitamins, the ultimate luxe treatment for the skin. She removed a few blemishes from the center of the pore and assured me they would not return in the same place. How?™s that for uprooting a problem! My t-zone was a trouble area and after a few squeezes I saw the once there black heads disappear with my own eyes.
I?™ve had many facials in my lifetime, I would describe this one as healing, thorough and well versed. Michelle took great care of me and I was able to expand upon the knowledge that I had already gained from working in the spa biz. She really opened my eyes to the problems of my now adult skin and how to better treat my trouble areas. I love to experiment with natural products, so as she explained that hydration starts from within, and that many people should use exfoliation and SPF to avoid wrinkles, my mind started to boil with ideas for at home remedies. However, I had to remind myself to leave it to the experts and Bliss products and not to reinvent the wheel.
The main differentiating qualities of this facial were the plastic covering which created a steam effect and opened my pores and the gel-like masque that was used to penetrate the products. Michelle suggested that I frequent Bliss Spa monthly to bring my skin back to its proper levels of hydration. However, I will be going back within the next two weeks, how?™s that for spoiled rotten?
For younger ladies, guests 16 and over can receive the ?˜Fabulous Facial?™ which is a great way to inspire you to create a skin care regimen early on. And let?™s not forget about the fellas, Bliss also offers the ?œUltimate He Wax” which is the male version of a Brazilian wax.
If you?™re looking for the perfect get ready for summer spa package, I would start off with a full-leg Brazilian wax, the fully loaded facial, followed by the 135 minute Ginger Rub…take a 30 minute break for lunch delivered to the spa with a glass of bubbly and conclude with the shellac manicure and pedicure. Now that?™s my idea of a blissful day.

Red pants are gutsy… ballsy… dangerous. Basically, if you wear them you?™re a woman not to be messed with. A women who?™s got moxy (I have literally been dying to use that word in a sentence.) Red pants are also a surprisingly versatile statement piece, particularly because they work dressed-up with a blouse or dressed-down with a t-shirt or leather jacket.
Apparently actress Analeigh Tipton has the balls it takes to rock some red pants, as she was spotted in a deliciously adorable pair of red ?œGrazia” pants by Nonoo. The ?œGrazia” features a crepe paper bag high waist and bow belt. The NY based designer behind Nonoo, Misha Nonoo, was born in Bahrain and raised in London. As the 2012 recipient of Fashion Group International?™s prestigious ?˜Rising Star Award,?™ if you haven?™t hear of Nonoo yet, don?™t worry – you will.
First I was all, ?œOh it?™s that super cute funny girl from ?˜Hung.?™” And then… AND THEN it suddenly clicked in my brain that I in fact recognize Analeigh Tipton from somewhere else entirely… namely, America?™s Next Top Model (also known as: ?œThe Best Show on TV Ever,” I love you Tyra). Analeigh was a finalist in Cycle 11, in which McKey was the winner. If you have no idea what I?™m talking about, that may be because ?œMcKey” was actually ?œBrittany Sullivan” until they changed her name on the second-to-last episode. Needless to say, it would appear that not winning was probably the best thing that ever happened to Analeigh.
But as usual, I digress. To get back to Analeigh?™s outfit, she definitely made the right choice with a clean, structured blazer. The red pants are loud enough on their own…. plus, I feel like the nude/pale-yellow-ish shoes really brighten up the whole outfit, whereas black shoes would have weighed it down. Final verdict: well played Analeigh!

Eva Mendes is one of those actresses thats uber stylish but never skanky, a tad masculine but never manly, stunningly gorgeous but more interesting than plain old pretty…. Eva was seen out and about on multiple occasions looking super cute and rocking the CH Carolina Herrera ?œMatryoshka” bag.
The CH Carolina Herrera ?œMatryoshka” bag is named for the famous Russian doll. What is a Matryoshka doll, you say? They are more commonly known as ?œNesting Dolls,” which are those dolls that fit inside of a doll that fits inside of a doll that fits inside of a doll… leaving you with an obscene quantity of basically useless dolls when opened up. But whatever, they?™re the quintessential Russian tourist gift and they?™re pretty. Sort of. In fact, the new Monopoly World Edition replaced lame game pieces like the top hat with said famous nesting dolls, which may or may not lead to horribly inappropriate and offensive nicknames when playing with friends who may or may not have been drinking. But that?™s a story for another time, my kittens.
The CH Carolina Herrera ?œMatryoshka” bag however, unlike its namesake, it the total opposite of useless… meaning that it is insanely practical and versatile and I suggest you grab it four different colors, just not off Eva’s arm. It?™s like a tote bag, but far superior…clearly superior enough for EVA to wear it more than once

The Jolie-Pitt clique comprised of–what to say… large in numbers? Obviously. Multi-faceted family of love? Also obvious. Superior looks? Obvious again. Let?™s start with the fact that Angie makes it look like toting around five kids with you everywhere is easy and effortless – which I assume for normal people it?™s not, but for us–no prob. Though I don?™t have a cult of kids yet–their great for dress up, tea time, and flaunting–well, riches.

Exciting news, fashion lovers! (This could also be classified as inspiring news for fashion newcomers as well.) Contemporary women?™s Ready to Wear brand Vena Cava announced a partnership with LF USA on April 9th.
For those of you who are not familiar with the brand, Vena Cava is known for an innovate and eclectic use of prints, making it a favorite among young starlets like Natalie Portman, Blake Lively and Emma Watson. And what does it mean when Black Swan, Serena Van der Voodsen and Hermoine Granger wear your clothes? It?™s means you?™re certifiably cool and fabulous. And yes, I realize that Emma Watson is moving on from Harry Potter… I just don?™t really care.
You may be saying, ?œHey, I don?™t speak fashion. What does this actually mean?” I?™ll explain: LF USA is a subsidiary of Hong Kong-headquartered Li & Fung Limited, which is a the multinational consumer goods export and logistics group. Huh? Let me translate that into words you understand: they?™re the people who help Rachel Zoe (among many others) fund and produce her clothing line. So while Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, the ladies behind Vena Cava, retain creative vision, they get big fancy pants budgets to make and export their clothes. It?™s basically like hitting the fashion jack pot, but also not surprising considering Vena Cava?™s impressive resume includes back-to-back nominations for the prestigious Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund Award in both 2007 and 2008.
But back to the clothes… I?™ve previously stated that I am not big on prints, which I am not, but I could actually see myself wearing that yellow and green printed blouse with several different outfits. I also like the polka dot top, but hello that?™s no surprise because it?™s black and we also know I have a serious addiction to wearing black. Alas, some things never change, my kittens.
