The body herself (don’t tell Heidi Klum I said that, or Elle’s lawyers), Elle Macpherson, was seen gallivanting around Cannes with the most fabulously fancy Blumarine Fancy Bag. And really, what else can you do besides gallivant when in Cannes with a bag called “Fancy?” Traipse? Canoodle?
It’s floral, but not too flowery; girly, but not too feminine; complex but not over-designed. Basically, it’s a paradox in a bag. Don’t even try to understand it, because you won’t. Just accept that it’s fabulous and fancy – and now you want one.
At first glance it’s a little scary, between the flower petal fringe and overdose of texture… but then it starts to grow on you. Particularly when seen with an ensemble, which we all know can change something from wack to amazing. This bag is one of those “you know you’re not a stylist” moments, because you probably wouldn’t go for it in the store if you hadn’t seen its potential with an outfit. But you did, so crisis averted. Elle opted for a traditional black, but more adventurous ladies out there might go for eye-popping turquoise, yellow or purple.
In case you live in a media black hole and thought Elle was suddenly making a “comeback” with Fashion Star, you would be completely wrong. Since the Age of the Supermodels came to a tragic end back in the late 90’s (CK One = Enter the Waif), Elle has been busy, busy, busy. First and foremost she has her lingerie line, aptly named Elle Macpherson intimates. She also hosted Britain’s Next Top Model in the UK and continued to grace the covers of magazines. To top it off, she’s 48 and has a body that many 18 year-olds would kill for.

After seeing just how fantastic she looks, do I secretly hope Blumarine will book Elle for it’s next campaign? I think I do.
