Deal-hunters and luxury brand shoppers on a budget have a reason to celebrate: this holiday season, luxury store Neiman Marcus will collaborate with Target to produce a limited-edition holiday collection with items created by 24 CFDA designers. The collection, which will be sold beginning Dec. 1, will be sold at all 1,763 Target stores and the 42 Neiman Marcus stores, as well as their online portals, target.com and neimanmarcus.com.
The collection will headline such luxury designers as Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, and Tory Burch, among others. Each designer created one to three gift items for this collection in items such as men’s, women’s, children’s apparel and accessories, as well as sporting goods, home décor, pet accessories, and electronics accessories.
Some designers stayed within the categories that they work in every day, while others experimented in departments that they have wanted to dabble in before, but never have. Executives from both retailers said that it was still too soon to discuss the descriptions of the products, the marketing plans, or how much they expect the holiday collection to generate. They did, however, reveal that the collection would include items with silk, leather, hand-beaded, hand-blown glass, and 10-karat gold detailing components.
The collection ranges from $7.99 to $499.99, with most items under $60. To celebrate the partnership, Target and Neiman Marcus are donating a total of $1 million to the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Luxury fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, who doubles as the president of the CFDA, looks forward to the partnership between the two retailers. “As designers, creativity is our best gift,” she said, “and with the generous support of Neiman Marcus and Target, we are happy to have created specially designed products as a thank you to share with out consumers and friends.”
