Reflecting on the days when my holiday shopping consisted of my Aunt taking me and my grandmother to Neimans, back when the line between the finer things in life and the more attainable goods was well defined and the two couldn’t easily be confused. As fashion and luxury became, how do you say–democratized, so have we. Our taste levels have changed and the realization that the blurred lines of luxury are comprised of less of a price tag and more of a feeling have shifted our idea of cache.

Target is well-known for their elaborate and affordable diffusions and we have been made aware of a multi-designer matching that’s more than unprecedented. Neimans and Target have coupled up to launch 50 limited-edition gifting items created by 24 well-known CFDA designers in the emergent space. The partnership includes a $1 million donation to the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Kudos to Target for this one…for we never thought Neiman Marcus would bow down.

“Target and Neiman Marcus are known for charting new terrain, and by joining forces for the holiday season, we’ve set the stage for a redefining moment in retail,” said Gregg Steinhafel, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Target. “This collaboration is unlike anything Target has done before and we are confident our guests will be thrilled with this extraordinary collection that features some of America’s most preeminent designers.”

“Neiman Marcus and Target share a passion for great design and delighting customers in new and unexpected ways, said Karen Katz, president and chief executive officer, The Neiman Marcus Group. “We are thrilled to be collaborating to offer a spectacular and special collection of one-of-a-kind items for the holidays. These will be the “must have” gifts – whether you are a loyal Neiman Marcus customer, a devoted Target guest or a fan of American design.”

Rumor has it, the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection will include a diverse mix of limited-edition eclectic gifting products that range $7.99 to $499.99, with most items less than $60. See below for designers who created pieces for the collection:

“I can think of no better finale to CFDA’s 50th Anniversary celebration than through this extraordinary designer collaboration,” said CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg. “As designers, creativity is our best gift, and with the generous support of Neiman Marcus and Target, we are happy to have created specially designed products as a thank you to share with our consumers and friends.”

I’ve always loved the smell of seasonal candles – the spices at Christmas time, the candy-corn inspired scents of fall and the crisp and clean aroma’s of summer. Along with the organic smells of nature that come along with each season, the smell of candles that were in my home at certain parts of the year became associated with that certain time. Currently being in the warmer months of the season, what’s better than relaxing at home –maybe curling up to read a book or to watch television with a fresh scented candle? The spring and summer seasons bring about a whole new breed of aromas that awaken the spirit and refresh the mind.Bloom, a candle collection from Slatkin & Co. embraces the energizing appeal of the blooming world around you. Vivid greens and first buds break through, while crisp mornings give way to the bright sunny days ahead of you. The Bloom candle collection masters the sweet bouquets of classic florals and young greens. What’s sexy, colorful, and tribal all over? Sorry everyone, were not talking about at Shakira music video. What we’re describing is a new fashion brand called Ingenue. The line is inspired by the everyday woman and features designs with patterns that are just as fun and bold as the women who wear them. The pattern for this season? Tribal. Dresses come in a variety of styles and cuts that are detailed with vibrant geometric tribal prints. Tribal is big for Spring and Summer 2012 so hop on this trend while you still can before it’s too late. Don’t worry about the prints taking away from your body though; all Ingenue dresses are made to flatter the feminine figure so you’ll get the best of both worlds; fashion and function. Who can argue with that?

Ingenue has not gone unnoticed amongst the celebrity population – a listers like Helen Mirren, GMTV’s Kate Garraway, Author Rachel Johnson and Actress Emilia Fox have all become huge fans of the brand very quickly, which is no surprise. Ingenue dresses have also featured in many press publications such as Good Housekeeping, She, Marie-Claire, Red, Closer, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Stylist, Heat as well as featuring in Grazia’s Top 100 under £100.

Personally, I think that the tribal trend is great and perfect for the warmer seasons. Whether you’re going to the office or a party, dresses are an excellent way to stay cool, while still looking sophisticated. Just be conscience of your accessories. If you overdo it with the bling, it can take away from the whole look and just come across as overbearing and disorganized.  A tribal print on top of a feminine fitting dress is just the icing on the cake to complete a fun and classy look.
